On Saturday we buried A. It was a beautiful warm, sunny day, except that it wasn't. I don't know how much darker and more devastating it can really get. It is the hardest thing for a parent to do, putting your 21 year old in the ground.
We found out that he died of asphyxiation, meaning that he had slipped into unconsciousness, started to vomit and suffocated, never to wake up again. It is a common cause of death among drug users. A fatal cocktail of narcotics and alcohol can cause this. It results in death if nobody is around to help. We won't know what he really had in his system until we get the toxicology report. But what does it really matter or change? Not a damn thing. I hate this disease and what it does to your heart and soul....
